Exeter City Women FC

Exeter City Women have a colourful backstory. They trace their origins to around 1997 and a club called Elmore Eagles, which joined forces with Exeter City in 2001 to form the Ladies side. What followed was turbulent: a controversial rebrand as Cullompton Rangers in 2006 prompted supporters to re-form the Exeter City name almost immediately, and by 2015/16 the club was heading towards disbandment before its strong links with local schools and the Community Trust kept it alive. From there the story turned upward. Renamed Exeter City Women in 2019, they won the South West Premier title, and in 2023/24 secured promotion to the third tier for the first time in the club's history — finishing the campaign unbeaten, dropping just four points all season. Like the men's club, they're rooted in a fan- and community-owned ethos.
