The Reds

Liverpool were already called the Reds before Bill Shankly introduced the all-red kit in the 1960s. The club was formed in 1892 by John Houlding to fill Anfield after Everton moved out to Goodison Park, and it was first called Everton FC and Athletic Grounds Ltd until the FA rejected the name.

In the women's game

The women's side began in 1989 as Newton LFC and joined Liverpool in 1994.
