Stourbridge FC Women, the Glassgirls, were formed in 2012 as Stourbridge Ladies, starting out in the Birmingham County League Division Two. What followed was a rapid climb: three quick promotions carried them into the West Midlands Regional League by 2016, and a stunning 2019/20 season saw them win all 14 games played — scoring 95 goals and conceding just two — before the campaign was curtailed by the pandemic. Elevated to the WMRL Premier Division, they went one better in 2021/22, winning the title by ten points with 123 goals scored and just eight conceded, plus a cup double and a run to the third round of the Women's FA Cup. Renamed Stourbridge FC Women in 2022, they won the FA Women's National League Midlands Division the same year and reached the National League Plate final, continuing a remarkable rise through the pyramid. The nickname, like the men's Glassboys, nods to Stourbridge's historic glassmaking industry.
