Durham Cestria LFC
Durham Cestria are the development side of Durham Women FC, and share the club's founding story — they take their name from South Durham & Cestria, the girls' youth club founded by Lee Sanders in 2006 that later merged with Durham University to create the senior Wildcats. As youngsters the Cestria girls travelled remarkably widely, playing sides from Portugal, Ghana and the United States, and won the prestigious World Peace Cup in Oslo in 2010 before finishing runners-up at the Gothia World Youth Cup a year later. Today Cestria give young North East players a competitive pathway into the senior game, and have enjoyed success in their own right, winning the North East Regional Women's League and climbing into the FA Women's National League.
