Cheadle Town Stingers were founded in 1999 as Manchester Stingers, a pioneering side in the Greater Manchester women's football scene. In 2020 they joined Cheadle Town Football Club, taking the rebranded Stingers name and settling at Park Road Stadium in Stockport. What followed was a rapid climb: a 2022/23 season that brought the Manchester FA Women's Challenge Cup and a regional cup double, then the North West Women's Regional Premier Division title in 2023/24, earning promotion into the FA Women's National League. From grassroots beginnings to the national league in just a handful of seasons, the Stingers built their rise around a stated identity of inclusivity, ambition and togetherness.
