Tottenham Hotspur FC Women

Tottenham Hotspur Women were founded in 1985 as Broxbourne Ladies by Sue Sharples and Kay Lovelock, formed after the East Herts College team folded, and played their first league match that September in the Greater London Women's League. Sharples secured permission to adopt the Tottenham Hotspur name in 1991, and after her tragic early death in 1994 the club created the Sue Sharples Memorial Trophy in her honour. A pivotal era followed under chairman Glenn Weaver from 2000, whose hands-on, community-first leadership — he'd wash kits, referee and coach — earned the club national recognition for its community work. Nicknamed the Lilywhites, Spurs completed a cup double in 2015/16 and won the FA Women's Premier League play-off in 2016/17 to climb the pyramid, before reaching the Women's Super League in 2019 and their first Women's FA Cup final in 2024. Once amateurs from Broxbourne, they became one of the top flight's established names.
